TEAM QUESTIONS
What are your team goals?
SHORT-TERM:

LONG-TERM:
|
By when do you intend to accomplish/come close to your goals?
For our short-term goals, before December 2014 (perhaps earlier if given the opportunity to acquire a sponsorship).
For our long-term goals, hopefully 2015 would be our year to shine internationally. We'll try our very best!

What is your current standing in the community?
In Cebu, we are currently 4th or 5th behind sponsored Class S teams: Arcanys and 1Waretech, and another sponsored top team: Blaque. Barney, one of the oldest top teams in Cebu, might be in 4th place but they're not so active so we have no way of really measuring up against them.
Within one month of sponsorship, do you think you can break in to the top 3 or 5 ranks?
Absolutely! We were the 2nd or 3rd best team in Cebu in March so we're positive we could do it again with proper training and practice.

How long has the team been together?
Team Nube was formed in March 2014 as a follow-up to our old team, Cube.
Eric, Renan and Julius just recently joined us when we couldn't be complete in various tournaments due to duties and responsibilities. We encouraged our players to prioritize their jobs/families because we are currently using the money we earn to fund ourselves.

How long has the members known each other?
Lloyd and Gama has been playing DotA together since early 2011, while Christian and Leovil had been playing together in 2008 to 2009. Julius was Lloyd's replacement in an old Cebu top team, Schooled, back in early to mid 2011. Renan and Gama used to play pub games in GOLS (an internet cafe) back in 2013.

How many times does training occur in a month, and for how long each session?
We try to train as much as we can but due to budget constraints we can only afford to train at least once a week for at least 6 hours.
What does the team do during training? Are there clear goals each training, and do you have debriefing after?
We play bet rares against other top teams and try out new lineups and heroes. For now, our goal is to get used to each other's movements and game style. We eat out and talk after training to do an open forum about what we did wrong, what we did right and how we can improve more. We give each other constructive feedback and comments.
How goal-oriented do you think your team is?
Everyone is SUPER goal-oriented and motivated. Which is why our captain, gravity17, always saves a portion of his salary for the team. Sometimes he even spends HALF of his bi-monthly salary especially if there are a lot of local tournaments.
While there are times that people might not necessarily agree with each other, does the team generally follow what the captain says to do?
Yes. The captain and vice-captain are very experienced and coordinated so whatever the captain says and the vice-captain echoes, goes. Sometimes, the members chime in just for input such as "missing here. Should we go top?" and the like.
Having a manager and sponsor - is there a difference to you?
Managers keep the team together while sponsors give the team encouragement and strength.
PaeiJwei has always been Team Nube's manager even from the days when we were playing as Team Cube. She does everything for the team like keep files, register the team for tournaments and mostly coordination among members. She also tries to keep us motivated by hosting get-togethers just so the members could feel at ease. For us, having a manager lifts the burden of worrying about things other than the game.
We currently do not have a sponsor. Unlike other teams that have sponsors but do not have managers, we have a manager but no sponsors. We notice that they change rosters a lot and there is a lot of in-team issues that arise.

What kind of sponsorship are you looking for? Gears? Money to participate in tournaments?
Our primary need is money to practice and participate in tournaments since most of our players are used to generic mice and keyboards. However, we are still open to receiving gear from our sponsors. :)
What can you give a sponsor in return?
Our manager, PaeiJwei, is an Advertising Arts major. We're sure that she will come up of creative ways to make sure our sponsors are well-compensated in means of marketing/exposure. (She made this website all by herself.) We will also make sure that we will not be a disgrace to our sponsors so that they will be proud to say "hey, that's the team I'm sponsoring".
What do you think a sponsor wants in return for sponsoring your team?
We think that the general reason a sponsor would want to adopt a team is because of added exposure in the gaming community. The e-Sports industry is growing and most companies like to stay current and relevant by adopting e-Sport teams.
Each sponsor has a different reason for approaching a team. Some sponsors, such as 8008s's generous sponsor, ET also known as Jcphne, helped that girl team (which PaeiJwei is a member of) because he believed in their potential and he asked nothing in return but their friendship and dedication for gaming (as well as team improvements, not just as a player but interpersonal abilities as well). Thanks so much ET! -PaeiJwei
If a sponsor has a request that we could comply, then we would do our best to accomplish that.

INDIVIDUAL QUESTIONS
Tell me more about yourself and the role you currently play in the team. Also tell me more about the heroes you play in competitions, and if they are different from the heroes that you enjoy playing, why? If you had a choice, would you change your role in your team?
Lloyd: I am the Captain and I play carry. The heroes I play in competitions are my mastered heroes because I always believe in giving my best. They are no different from the heroes I enjoy playing. I wouldn't change my role because I like to play carry although I often change to support when the need arises.
Gama: I am the Manager and I play support. The heroes I play in competitions are varied but they are mostly primary supports/warder heroes. I'm used to playing with little or no items and I always do my best to make sure the team is well-supported, whether during the game or in real life. I wouldn't want to change my role because, as much as I want to play carry and get items, I value the team more and I know that I am not as strong as our capable carries.
Eric: I play support. I mostly play heroes that I really like because they give me the freedom to choose heroes I want to use. My tournament heroes are similar to my mastery/favorite heroes. If they change my role, why not? I like challenges and I believe in pushing myself to be the best player I can be.

Christian: I am the Vice-captain and I play all heroes except 3: Meepo, Visage and Chen. I mostly play support but I play carry at times when our carries are not present. I have no complaints about the heroes chosen for me because I can bring all.
Leovil: I am a carry and I play all lanes. I mostly play tri-carry or side-lane in competitions and the heroes I play are no different from the heroes I like. I would like to play mid because I'm not really good in side-laning and I'm happy when I play tri-carry because I like killing creeps and heroes!
Renan: I play carry (mid-laner). I play all mid-lane heroes and they are the same as my favorites and masteries. I like mid-lane because it has always been my role ever since I started DotA.
Julius: I play solo carry. I play mid-lane and I like mostly mid-lane heroes. I don't want to change my role because I like playing carry and I always stand by what my teammates ask me to use.

How do you feel about your captain? Do you think he's a capable one? How do you feel about the other members?
Lloyd: I have no opinion about myself. I let them judge how capable I am in leading the team.
My team members were selected based on personality above play style. I always believe that people with good personalities and mediocre skills are better because they strive hard to improve. Gama: Lloyd wasn't exactly volunteering to be captain. He was always the default captain because everybody looked up to him and we got everyone together.
I really like our members because everyone is experienced in competitive DotA and none of them ever discriminated me or done anything disrespectful. To me, attitude is more important than gaming style because attitude can't be taught or learned but gaming style improves through practice. I like how we do post mortem and everyone just chimes in "I think I should have done this instead of that". No one plays blame game in Team Nube! I'm so proud of my boys! Eric: I really like this team and the captain is very good. Everyone is carefree and happy. I really like this team and although I am new, I could tell that they have a really strong foundation. Unlike most teams, Team Nube doesn't replace weak players or players that under-perform in a game. Even if we lose, they (the older members such as the captain, vice-captain and manager) don't replace bad players because it seems like their (the older members) core philosophy is everyone can get better with practice.
Julius: I have no issues with the captain. My opinion on my teammates is that everyone is carefree and silly! I really like it.

Christian: Papa (father) Lloyd is very chill. Sometimes, because of his coolness, he loses awareness of the game. It amuses me a lot!
Leovil is one of the members that gets my criticism and harsh words the most because I've played with him the longest and I know that, if he just set his mind to it, he could surpass his current skill level. Ate (big sister) Gama? I'm scared of her. Advance GG. I'm not even going to try competing against her because she can beat me in anything, except eating. I have no opinion on the others because they're new and I have to study them first. I would like to add that this is the BEST TEAM EVER! We seldom argue, we never fight, we seldom rage (I think I'm the only one who does that) and it's really fun! No pressure in every game and there are no arrogant players that always point out our mistakes. Leovil: Our captain has always been the captain and it has never changed because we like it that way.
My teammates are good but we constantly have miscommunication due to lack of team practice. But that's really the only problem we have. If we could practice more, we'd be really strong. Renan: I like them all because they are experienced DotA 1 players and they know what to do. They also command in-game so it helps with the game flow.
